The Measles Rubella Initiative and the American Academy of Pediatrics co-hosted a side-meeting at the World Health Assembly in Geneva on May 23rd, 2018 to strengthen the partnership between national pediatric societies and global immunization partners around vaccine systems and service delivery. The meeting was attended by senior leadership from the pediatric societies from Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria, and the Philippines as well as MRI partners including American Red Cross, CDC, Gavi, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent, UNICEF, the UN Foundation, and WHO & WHO Europe. The meeting included a discussion around current challenges at the country level and ways that strengthened partnerships could address them, particularly around sub-national systems strengthening and combating vaccine hesitancy.
